Patty was in a cheerful mood as she sat behind the counter, reading a book and waiting for customers. The weather was about par for the course, which was why she had a fan out behind the counter, even if she didn't have it on just yet. She'd probably need it at some point.

Patty was cheerfully rearranging a couple displays for no reason other than she wanted to.

But at least she was in a good mood.

The wedding was coming up in a few days, so Patty was in an even more bouncy mood than she usually was while at work. She was putting this burst of energy to good use by putting out some new stock and then tidying the place up.

Well, at least she was being useful.

The past couple days had been really good for Patty. She'd gotten to babysit Matthew on Sunday while Piper did the brunch, for one thing. Patty's morning had been a medley of song which had her wondering what the hell was going on. It wasn't the weirdest thing by far, but she wasn't going to be trying to talk for a while.

Which was why she'd put up a sign saying I'm Communicating By Written Note Today. Deal With It.

Cranky Patty was cranky.

Armed with her coffee, Patty opened the shop and then settled in behind a counter with a thick and kind of dusty-looking book.

She was quite easily distracted, though. Quite, quite easily.

Last week Patty had been on an energy drink high and bouncing like a maniac; this week she was a bit more sedate and engrossed in a book she'd snagged from one of the shelves.

Which was why there was a bell on the counter for people to ring and get her attention.

It was a tired Patty that opened the shop. But being the industrious woman she was, she had a very large cup of coffee behind the counter with her to keep her awake.

It wasn't quite working enough.

Patty was in a cheerful mood as she bustled around the store, setting up a small display of crystals and making sure everything was where it was supposed to be.

And maybe making a mental list of stuff she wanted to buy.
